We all know that we are supposed to floss our teeth daily to help prevent gum disease; however, only half of Americans admit to flossing their teeth daily. Often, flossing is viewed as a chore that many would like to avoid at all cost. With recent claims from an article saying that flossing is ineffective, many feel they can finally ditch the task without feeling guilty. However, despite the recent claims, Dr. Ronald E. Richardson encourages you to continue flossing. As your trusted dentist in Melbourne, Dr. Richardson has seen the benefits of flossing first hand.

Do NOT let your insurance benefits expire for 2016!
Let us help you maximize your benefits to keep you healthy!
With Thanksgiving and the Holidays fast approaching, the end of the year will be here sooner than we think. We take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage and the confidence that you have shown by allowing us to care for your family and friends and most of all for the pleasure to serve you. Here are a few items that might affect you, as we come to year-end.
Insurance benefits for 2016 – Use or Lose.
As your partners in your dental health, we take this opportunity to remind you that you may have remaining insurance benefits available for you and your family. These benefits will be lost if unused by December 31 because most dental benefits do not carry over from one benefit year to the next. Therefore, we are happy to offer assistance with any questions that you may have on how you can utilize your unused insurance benefits for application to your unfinished treatment.
Do any family members have unused insurance benefits?
Now is the time to check that all your family members are up to date on their cleanings. Do you have college children who have not been in for their cleanings due to their schedules? Do you have family members that need dental work and were waiting till they were back in town? We are open until December 22 and are seeing patients on Fridays to accommodate patients needing to use their benefits.
Flex Plans/Health Savings Accounts
If your company offers a health savings account and money has been set aside for medical or dental care you may lose this money if it is not used by the end of the year. Check with your employer for specific details and exact cut off date.
Q. How much do I set aside for next year?
This is a great question! Usually, in November, your company will require that you submit the dollar amount you would like to set aside for next year. Please call our office for a phone consultation to determine what benefits must be set aside to keep you healthy.
We recommend that you plan early and schedule your Fall/Winter dental appointments now, particularly if you require a specific date. Give yourself peace of mind as you enjoy Fall and the Holiday Season.
We are available to assist you in every way possible to stretch your budget a little further and answer all questions you may have regarding your dental treatment. Call our office today 321-723-3477 to reserve an appointment for you and your family!

Maybe you haven’t noticed, but the holiday season is fast approaching. Is your smile ready? Porcelain veneers are excellent for covering up virtually any dental flaw. Chipped, stained, and misshapen teeth are made perfect with the thin sheets of porcelain that are affixed to the surface of the teeth that show when you smile. Traditionally, however, dental veneers have required the removal of a layer of perfectly good tooth enamel — and that’s something many patients shy away from. These days, there is another option: minimally-invasive porcelain veneers in Melbourne, FL.
